Supply terms at a glance

These are the terms we confirm in writing with your quotation. Where a figure depends on the part, it is quoted against your drawing rather than assumed.

ParameterWhat we offer
Materials Stainless steel 300 series (304, 316, 316L, 310, 309) and 400 series (409, 410, 420, 430, 436), low-alloy steel and high-temperature alloy. Other grades on request.
Material standards Produced and certified to the standard and grade you state on the drawing or PO. Tell us the standard and we quote to it.
Casting tolerance ±0.1 mm by process, confirmed against your drawing before tooling starts.

Material grades

Grades we cast regularly, with cross-references

Drawing in EN or DIN but ordering from Asia? This table maps the grades you are likely to specify. If your grade is not listed, send it — we will confirm availability and any minimum melt quantity.

Grade (ASTM / AISI) EN / DIN equivalent JIS Typical application
304 / S304001.4301 (X5CrNi18-10)SUS304General corrosion resistance
316 / S316001.4401 (X5CrNiMo17-12-2)SUS316Marine hardware, chemical service

436 / S436001.4513 (X6CrMoTi17-1)SUS436LImproved corrosion resistance
Low-alloy steel and high-temperature alloy are quoted to the grade stated on your drawing. Other grades on request.

Equivalences are indicative. Final acceptance is against the standard and grade stated on your drawing or purchase order, and the composition is verified by spectrometry on every melt.

Material selection

Which grade for which service condition

Grade names only tell you half the story. What usually decides the specification is the environment, the working temperature and the strength the part has to carry. This is the comparison we walk through with customers before a grade is fixed.

Indicative guidance only — confirm against the applicable standard and your own design calculations
Grade group Corrosion resistance Heat resistance Mechanical properties Specify it when
300 series (304, 316, 316L) Good to very good — 316/316L add molybdenum for chlorides and marine splash Oxidation limit around 800 °C Quoted to grade and heat treatment Valve and pump bodies, fittings, marine and building hardware, food and pharmaceutical equipment
400 series (409, 410, 420, 430, 436) Moderate to good — better than carbon steel; 410 and 420 are hardenable Service temperature quoted to grade Quoted to grade and heat treatment Wear parts and components where hardness or cost-effective corrosion resistance matters
Low-alloy steel Poor to moderate — coating or galvanising advised Service temperature quoted to grade Quoted to grade and heat treatment Structural and load-bearing parts with no direct corrosion exposure
High-temperature alloy (309, 310) Excellent high-temperature oxidation resistance For high-temperature service Quoted to grade and heat treatment Heat-resistant fittings, unions and furnace-side components

Service temperature limits are indicative for continuous operation and vary with load, atmosphere and section thickness. Confirm the final grade against the applicable standard and your own design calculations. Where a grade is borderline, we will say so and suggest an alternative rather than quoting whatever was asked for.

Market access & compliance

What each destination market actually requires

This is where suppliers and buyers most often talk past each other. A foundry does not “have CE” — conformity is declared for a finished assembly. What we can do is supply the material and test documentation that your technical file needs.

Destination market What typically applies Who declares conformity What we provide
European Union PED 2014/68/EU for pressure equipment above the defined thresholds; REACH and RoHS substance obligations on the finished product The equipment manufacturer placing the assembly on the market, with a notified body where the category requires it Material certificates traceable to the heat poured, dimensional and NDT reports, and material declarations to support your technical file
Germany (specific) AD 2000-Merkblatt W0 is commonly specified for pressure-retaining materials You or your notified body Heat-specific testing and third-party witness arranged to the standard your notified body specifies
United Kingdom UKCA marking mirrors CE for pressure equipment placed on the GB market The manufacturer placing the assembly on the GB market Same documentation route as the EU, addressed to the applicable BS EN standards
United States ASTM and ASME material specifications; ASME BPVC Section II where the part is pressure-retaining. CE marking does not apply You, or the authorised inspector for stamped equipment Material certificates to the grade stated on your drawing, plus third-party test reports arranged on request
Australia / New Zealand AS/NZS standards where specified; no CE or UKCA obligation for industrial castings You Material certificates and inspection reports to the AS/NZS grade stated on your drawing
Any market The documentation set is agreed at order stage Independent inspection is arranged through the inspector you nominate Material certificates traceable to the heat poured, plus dimensional and NDT reports where the drawing requires them

Material certificates

Issued against the heat number actually poured — not a generic declaration for the grade.

Substance declarations

REACH and RoHS declarations, plus conflict-minerals statements where your compliance process requires them.

Third-party witness

Witnessed testing and independent inspection arranged around your nominated body, scheduled with the production run rather than after it.

Compliance responsibility for the finished assembly always rests with the party placing it on the market. If a requirement is unclear, tell us the market and end use and we will confirm in writing what we can and cannot supply.

How we work with you

OEM and ODM cooperation, from first sample to repeat order

The commercial questions buyers ask before committing — answered here rather than left to a phone call. Anything that turns out to be different in practice, we will tell you before you order, not after.

OEM

Manufacture strictly to your drawings

You supply the 2D drawing and 3D model; we supply tooling, castings, machining, heat treatment, finishing and inspection. Any dimension we cannot hold is raised as a written query before tooling starts, so a rejection does not appear at first article.

ODM

Develop the part with our engineers

Send a sample part, a worn original, or just a functional requirement. We measure it, propose a castable and machinable design, state the effect on cost and weight, and build a prototype for your testing. You own the resulting design and tooling.

Sampling and the move to series production

  • Sample cost is quoted separately with the tooling, and stated in the quotation before you commit.
  • Your written approval of the sample is what releases series production — we do not run ahead of it.
  • The approved sample is retained as the visual and dimensional reference for every subsequent lot.
  • Small first orders are normal. Most accounts began with a trial batch and scaled up once delivery had been proven.
  • Prototype and trial quantities are accepted for tooling trials and design validation.

Tooling, modifications and leaving

  • Tooling is your property — written into the quotation, not agreed verbally.
  • Minor modifications arising from a drawing revision are quoted individually, so you see the cost before approving it.
  • Tooling condition is monitored. When a die approaches the end of its life we tell you, rather than letting quality drift until parts fail.
  • If you move on, you receive the tooling, drawing revision records, the inspection programme and the approved sample — transfer is agreed in writing at the outset.
  • NDA welcome. Send your template with the first enquiry and we will return it signed before drawings are circulated.

Part families

The kinds of components we quote most often

Not a catalogue — we are an OEM supplier and do not hold stock. These are the categories you can expect us to quote confidently against a drawing.

Valve & pump parts

Bodies, bonnets, discs, seats, impellers, wear rings, trims.

Shafts, pins & bushes

Turned and ground components with concentricity-critical features.

Brackets & mounts

Structural parts requiring strength with minimal post-machining.

Wear & ground-engaging parts

Teeth, inserts, plates and liners in hardened grades.

Linkage & clevis components

Automotive and machinery linkage parts with machined bores.

Marine & deck hardware

Cleats, fittings and anchors in 316 and 316L stainless.

Housings & covers

Enclosures, gearbox covers, end caps and bearing housings.

Hygienic stainless parts

Easily cleaned components for food, dairy and pharmaceutical lines.

Lead time

Where the calendar actually goes

Vague lead times cause problems later. This is the stage-by-stage breakdown for a typical new part, quoted from the day your order and any tooling payment are received.

Repeat orders run faster

Once tooling and the inspection programme exist, repeat orders skip tooling and sampling entirely and go straight into the 25-day production window.

Packaging & labelling

Arriving intact matters as much as the tolerance

Castings are heavy and machined faces are easily damaged in transit. Packaging is specified with you at quotation stage, not improvised at the loading dock.

Inner protection

VCI film, desiccant packs, foam or cardboard separation between machined faces. Rust prevention to your required shelf life.

Labelling

Your part number, description, quantity, batch and heat number, barcode or QR, and country of origin marking.

Palletising

Plywood or heat-treated pallets, strapping, corner protection and a container loading plan supplied before dispatch.
